Photography History
GSU Class with Kate Cunningham
On March 24, 2018, I traveled to Washington, D.C., to document the March For Our Lives protest, a student-led demonstration advocating for stricter gun control laws in the United States.
Armed with my Hasselblad 120mm camera and Kodak T-Max film, I captured black-and-white portraits of protesters, aiming to convey the emotional intensity and collective determination of the movement.
In addition to photographing participants, I engaged them with surveys to gain deeper insight into their motivations, personal stories, and perspectives on gun violence and reform. This combination of visual and narrative elements seeks to provide a comprehensive portrayal of the individuals behind the protest, highlighting the human faces driving the call for change.
